Social media is one of the best ways to connect with your customers, whether you’re a for-profit or not-for-profit company. Almost all, if not all companies have social media pages. Facebook and Twitter are two of the largest social media platforms. Most of your target market (University students) use social media, and it would be a great way to reach out to them. You can use it to make announcements, provide stud tips, and answer any questions. When including social media on your posters, be sure to make it stand out. Usually, many people look to see if you have a website and social media usernames/handles. Also be sure to check your social media pages a few times daily. Students are always posting to the page, so it’s important to respond to them, especially if they’re having trouble with portal or other issues. Check out the Social Media section for more details.
Promoting Using Social Media
As mentioned before, Facebook and Twitter are great tools. One of the great things that they have are “Sponsored Posts (Facebook)” and “Promoted Tweets (Twitter).” These are posts that show up on peoples’ timelines, even if they don’t “like” or “follow” them.
You can create the post by clicking the arrow in the top right corner on Facebook, clicking “Create Ads,” then filling out the information, such as the campaign’s name, where you want it to reach, demographics, etc. Facebook also has the option to show the ad on the side of the page. Twitter works the same way. To access Twitter’s ad settings, click “Advertise” on the bottom of the right hand column. These are both instructions for desktop; it may be different for mobile.
Another tip for Facebook, is to create an event for the sessions, and ask other team members to share it on their personal pages. You can also ask admins of groups related to the course to post it on their pages. For example, if there is a group for an Economics class, you can ask the admin of that page to share the event on their own page. This way, people who aren’t aware of SOS, and need help with their class work, they can benefit from the Exam-AID sessions.
