In this E-manual post you will find updated information for all of your Students Offering Support correspondence needs. Below is information useful for your chapter correspondence and for providing background information about Students Offering Support and your own chapter when needed.
The full name of the organization is Students Offering Support. Please use this instead of Canada SOS as we are trying to move away from the association with Canada in order to more easily facilitate international expansion. However, since we are a registered charity under the name Canada SOS: Students Offering Support, cheques should still be made out to this account name.
Short Forms and Acronyms
This does not prevent us from using the short form: “SOS“. SOS will be used to provide a quick and easy way to refer to the organization in all unofficial documents (ie. Tweets, Facebook posts, chapters’ constituency email’s, etc). Further, it allows us to more recognizable as an “SOS” organization, as well as allowing us to continue using it for website names and short twitter usernames. Although it is OK to use the acronym SOS in conversation and social media, please always officially refer to the organization as Students Offering Support.
Please use the following format when writing any correspondence, marketing, or business development materials: Students Offering Support: University Chapter
|Officially Correct||Students Offering Support: Trent Chapter|
|Students Offering Support: UBC Chapter|
|Unofficially Correct||TrentSOS or UBC SOS (for Chapter names)|
|SOS (for head office or general references)|
|All Incorrect Forms||SOS at Trent|
|Trent SOS: Students Offering Support|
|SOS: UBC Chapter|
