In order to streamline Chapter and Head Office Branding as SOS expands, we ask that each chapter make changes to their naming on social media sites (Facebook and Twitter) as well as their chapter websites. These changes should be implemented no later than October 20, 2011.
Chapters’ Facebook fan pages should be named using the format: “Uni Name SOS – Students Offering Support”.
As an example, an updated Facebook name would be York SOS – Students Offering Support.
Correct | UBC SOS – Students Offering Support |
Dalhousie SOS – Students Offering Support |
Incorrect | Students Offering Support: Laurier Chapter |
Waterloo Chapter of Students Offering Support |
To maintain a consistent brand Chapters should use this logo as their profile picture. You can download the logo here.
Chapter Twitter account names should be formatted as: “@schoolnameSOS”. Please note that SOS is capitalized. For example, if you represent Students Offering Support at the University of Waterloo, your Twitter account name would be @waterlooSOS. Please feel free to refer to your University in the way most common to students at your school.
Correct @calgarySOS
Incorrect @SOSvictoria
If your chapter does not yet have a Twitter account, we recommend making one! Twitter provides a great environment for sharing brief and frequent information about your chapter and, as an example, updating both your Volunteers and Students with Exam-AID session times. Be sure to follow @SOSheadoffice to get lots of great updates and even re-tweet material from the Head Office.
Website Name
Your chapter’s website name is set up by Head Office. When written out, it should be with your school’s name (in lower case), followed by SOS (in capitals). When writing the URL of the website, please omit “http://” and the following “/” at the end of the website address. The website name should be underlined and with ‘SOS’ in capital letters when providing a link to your site.
Final Notes
If you have any questions about Online Branding for your chapter, do not hesitate to send an e-mail the Director of Chapter Developments chapters@studentsofferingsupport.ca. Also, please feel free to leave comments and thoughts about these changes in the portal! We look forward to hearing from you!
