Be advised that Students Offering Support already has an established organizational structure set in place for every one of your chapters (for details visit this post). However, keep in mind that ideally you will modify the descriptions to ensure it exactly reflects what your volunteers are responsible for. We provide guidelines, you modify it to your fit.
It is important to go into job interviews knowing what you are looking for in new SOS hires. It is recommended that all individuals involved in the hiring process are in agreement upon the personal and professional characteristics that must be present in a new hire. Developing a list of Job Specifications clarifies what kind of person to recruit and for which qualities that person should be interviewed for.
Consider job requirements regarding:
- Human traits (ex. Great negotiator)
- Experience (ex. Has negotiation experience)
- Skill (ex. Has developed communication skill)
- Effort (ex. 40hr work week)
- Working conditions (ex. travelling required)
Be sure that requirements are JUSTIFIABLE and NECESSARY to be able to successfully perform the job.
By establishing these criteria prior to interviewing candidates, everyone involved in the interviewing process will be on the same page regarding what you are looking for in your new team members.
