Posters are another very important tool to get the word out about Students Offering Support. They can advertise anything from upcoming Exam-AID sessions, openings in job positions for your school’s SOS Chapter, upcoming Outreach trips, etc. Post them up around classrooms or hand them out after lectures. You can also go to your school first-year residences and post them there. If your University is sponsored by a local business ask if you can post flyers on a bulletin board there. If your University has a plaza nearby check to see if businesses will let you post them there. Always ask for permission first.

For Course Specific posters, printing 4-5 big posters and putting them on the doors or right around the lectures (or outside Exams of other courses the same students take!) can be VERY effective, just make sure you
a) grab their attention
b) communicate the details (drive to your website!) and
c) ensure you sell them on the ‘why’ – use a big stat about your SOS chapter or SOS in general (SOS has taught 20,000 students.. there is a reason why – we help students prepare for exams!).. or a testimonial from a past session, or stats from last year (Western SOS taught 1000 students and got a rating of 8.5 – come find out why!”).
For campus wide posters, it is about catching their attention by posting the course codes so they are like ‘YES THIS IS FOR ME!’, communicating what an SOS session is, the price, and get them to the website as fast as possible!
